Discover the beauty of the full moon in an engaging, hands-on stargazing experience with Flagstaff Stargazing Adventures. This tour is designed to offer participants an in-depth exploration of the moon’s surface, craters, seas, and mountain ranges, all while using advanced telescopes and expert guidance. With three Celestron Starsense Explorer 150mm telescopes, each shared by up to four guests, this tour is perfect for families, small groups, or moon enthusiasts looking to take control of their own telescope and experience the night sky like never before. What’s Included: 150mm (6-inch) Celestron Dobsonian telescopes: You will have the chance to control your own telescope using software on a phone that we provide, which helps guide you to various features of the moon and other bright celestial objects. Interactive Moon Observation: With the moon as the primary focus, participants will observe its craters, mountain ranges, and lunar seas in stunning detail. Using the Starsense app, guests can navigate through different lunar features and identify key areas like the Sea of Tranquility, where the Apollo 11 mission landed, or prominent craters like Tycho and Copernicus. Personalized Experience: Each telescope will be shared by a maximum of four participants, ensuring plenty of hands-on time and a personal experience at each scope. Laser-guided constellation tour: In addition to lunar viewing, we will provide a brief constellation tour using a laser pointer to highlight other bright objects and constellations visible even during the full moon. Comfort Amenities: We ensure your comfort throughout the night by providing chairs, blankets, and hot drinks (tea and hot chocolate). During the winter months, we also include propane heaters to keep you warm as you observe the night sky. Astrophotography: Capture images of the moon through your own phone using adapters that we provide for each group.
